They want to do things their way.

However, those pre-conceived procedures they would like to follow do not fit with the actual way a Tier 1 platform must operate, by banking rules, federal, as well as financial legislation, financial regulatory, Tier 1 bound regulations to begin the process, not even being aware that banks themselves can NOT trade on this level by law! The client/capital provider who insists on this 'tail wagging the dog' is declined even the chance to be considered and not even heard or considered in a 100% secured Tier 1 trade arena.

Think of it like this; You know that there is a party is being held where the guests are all participating in very lucrative trade programs. They took the correct approach, followed the orders and instructions of the trade platform principals / program director to conform with the financing and trading rules. The people who are inside having a grand time while they multiply their assets and receive proceeds by the platform every trading week renewed; some already for years in ongoing huge project financings.

Now.., you were not invited to this party but you really would like to attend. If you were going to try to barge in and crash the party, you know you would be automatically resolutely rejected and most likely banned from ever showing up again in future! None of the participants nor the organizers of this particular party are actually really looking forward to any new-comers, all based on the fear that someone new could well spoil the party's pleasant, secured ambiance and existence in time! Pretty severe, isn't it? Yet many times capital providers think they can push their way in, which is hardly the way to get in or to be ever invited at all!

To make yourself attractive for an invitation to the party, you must 'dress up' by providing the documents that start the invitation process handed to you by the Program Director of the Tier 1 platform. Those are commonly the bank letter (BCL/RWA as is prewritten on purpose!), passport and client information sheet of the client / signatory, a bank tear sheet no older than 5 days, and some other necessary documents. There is also the matter of your personal manner. Are you cooperative? Have you disclosed everything? Will you act like a partner who has a pleasing personality that the platform can work with? No matter how rich you are, remember you are dealing here with the owners of every USD, Euro, or other legal currency on the planet, which will have to approve your Tier 1 trade entry! These here, are just a few things that you as the client/capital provider need to be prepared to do.

The next step is presenting your documents to the designated Program Director of the platform. This is how you make the request to come to the party. After a brief time making sure that you and the money you want to put up for trade are clean and clear as well as owned by you or your company in full, you have passed now through the first doorway in joining the party.

If all the necessary paperwork is presented and you are cleared to enter the next door, you will be dealing directly with the principal(s) of the platform. This is the point where you must pay close attention to the instructions that the platform will give you. They are required to follow ever-changing rules and requirements to invite you through the last door, which is the entry to the party itself. Beware! Never underestimate what the trading entities know about you and your efforts to get into a trade scenario. Failure to disclose or cooperate in all stages of the DD followed by the intake will disqualify you resulting in a 'NON PERFORMANCE' status. Over the first few years, it is tough for most people to even become direct to a private placement opportunity, given the thousands of brokers that exist in the business. To add to the problem, most private placement brokers think they have a real private placement program, but unfortunately, 99% of them do NOT.

Investor or intermediary, the growing “broker abyss” haunts us all, and with this new unsafe environment you must have a unique approach to achieve success. In this article, we will provide you with the insight you need to break through the wall of mediocrity, so you can start your life as successful private placement broker. First things first, let’s take a look at some tips to help you find other brokers, cut through the chains, and get DIRECT to a real private placement trader.

10 Tips for Private Placement Brokers

1. Define your Goals: You will always be more successful if you create goals, and have plans on how to attain them. Though this is a very basic concept, most private placement brokers simply “wing it”, expecting to close the deal of a lifetime. If you are organized and well spoken on the phone, clearly stating your goals, most brokers will “pass you along” to the next person without hesitation, or tell you they can’t help from the beginning.

2. Education is Everything: If you are NOT educated in the fine details of private placement, you will NEVER be able to know what is real. In addition, if you are improperly educated, you could easily meet one of the few traders in the world, and not even know it. Whether you are an investor or broker, education is the key to determining which brokers are wasting your time, and which may be on to something. If you call brokers out with the facts and get straight to the point, they will part like the “Red Sea”, and you will eventually be DIRECT with a “trader”.

3. Find a Trader you Believe In: If you are promoting a private placement program that you don’t truly believe in, you are wasting your time. People can sense confidence and shakiness over the phone, and in the private placement world, that is your main method of communication. Do yourself a favor and don’t try to put deals together until you are completely sure that you are representing something, or someone that is real. Once you find someone you truly believe in, and you emit that confidence to other brokers in the private placement world, you will usually get places much quicker.

4. Be Confident and Calm: As we have said before, all you really have in the private placement business is your ability to communicate effectively over the phone. If you are educated, calm, collected, and confident, you will be far more efficient in your private placement efforts than someone without these characteristics. Despite the fact that this approach is far more effective in gaining a favorable response from other brokers, most brokers you will meet are anxious, undereducated, and living on a prayer. Define yourself, your knowledge base, and your confidence first, and you will be direct to a real program before you know it.

5. Creative Networking is a MUST: The most common way for private placement investors and brokers to meet is via the Internet. Whether you search through investment discussion forums, or other similar sites, private placement websites can be very limiting unless you get creative. Though this may be a good place to start, it will NOT lead you to your dream of riches. To be effective, you must use a far more aggressive approach that focuses on contacting everyone in the private placement business at once (hint: email spiders), with a goal of establishing a large contact base to network within. Once you establish a large network, and gain some experience, you can start to develop relationships with the select few individuals that you feel are real, and start to put deals together. Remember, if you network aggressively, you should always have leads to work with 24/7.

6. Organize and Follow Up : What good are leads if you don’t assess and extract the full potential from them? When you meet a new private placement broker, investor, or trader, always note their contact information, and what your gut feeling is on them. Also, it can help to write a short summary of your conversation so you can begin where you left off next time you talk. You may say, “I can keep track of things without documenting it”. Well, if that’s the case, you are not networking aggressively enough. You should aim to have a list of over 500 contacts, and should follow up with them based upon the priority you assign to each person. Remember, in the private placement business people forget about you quickly, so follow-ups are VERY critical to developing relationships.

7. Have a Good Business Presence: If you have made the decision to work in the private placement world, you should first create a legal business entity specifically for that purpose. After you have a business, you can think about creating a website, or other unique material to differentiate you from the 100,000 other private placement brokers. Always remember, whether you’re on the phone or just sending a simple email, to be successful in such an elite business you must exude the utmost professionalism at all times.

8. Demand to Speak with Program Manager: If you are educated in private placement, and the broker you are speaking with knows it, it may be a good time to get aggressive. By nature, most people do not like confrontation. With this in mind, if you are someone who appears to be well-informed, qualified, and straight to the point, you will get DIRECT to a “trader” in no time. Unfortunately, most private placement brokers sit behind their computers and Skype each other, when they should be “taking the bull by its horns”!

9. Ratios are Your Best Friend: As we have briefly mentioned before, it is better to start off with “500 contacts” than “50″ in the private placement business. Though it may seem tough to sort through all of the “programs” that people are offering, if you are educated, you will know when you meet a real trader. Some methods to increase your ratios/contacts in private placement are: posting in forums, using email spiders to extract/send emails, creating a blog/website, networking aggressively over the phone, etc. Think about it, if you have 1000+ contacts in the private placement business, chances are you’re DIRECT to something real. Once you find what it is, you can cut your network down to as few as 10 people, and still be a millionaire.

10. Make a Commitment to Never Give Up: If you make the decision to be successful no matter what from the beginning, and never give up, you will eventually find what you were looking for. In contrast, if you say to yourself, “If I don’t close a deal in 1 year, I am going to quit”, you will NEVER close a deal and will feel your efforts were wasted. Being successful in the private placement business takes someone with fierce persistence, and a very vivid dream of success, which as we all know, are very rare characteristics in this day and age.

After reviewing the tips we have listed above, you now need to ask yourself three important questions whether you are an investor or a broker.

First, is my personality right for the private placement business?

Second, can I commit to being cautious, and not overanxious?

Third, can i agree to never give up until I succeed?

If you have a second, sit back and reflect on these questions in your head…

After you have done this, now ask yourself, am I willing to sacrifice years of my life, all for a far-fetched stab at success? Well, your answer should depend on the type of person you are, and your willingness to learn.

If you are the kind of person that sets goals, thrives in moments of pressure, and overcomes adversity easily, then you may have a good chance to be a successful private placement broker. On the other hand, if you are someone with wealth and are open to new ideas, then you may be the right type of person to invest in a private placement program.

In summary, whether you are an investor or broker, you will always encounter “daisy chains” and misrepresentation in the private placement business. This will then allow businesses to have cash equity which will enable business owners to reinvest back into their business. There are a number of reasons why people choose to monetize bank instruments. One reason is to have the ability to use cash from the liquidated instrument to buy goods and trade them with minimal risk. Struggling businesses can use them as a way of raising money to invest in the operations.

We work alongside other financial institutions who can issue and monetize bank instruments. Bank instruments can be useful when starting up a business. You can either purchase or lease an SBLC and have the bank instrument cashed in (monetized) to provide capital for your business. As well, you can take it one step further and we can enter the monetized amount into trade to generate further funds. We have service providers who can facilitate in issuance of BG’s/SBLC’s, monetize and last but not least trade the monetized bank instruments. All of our service providers have a proven track record. Using instruments to fulfill your capital requirements can be a less complicated method to meet your capital needs.

How To Monetize Bank Instruments?
There are many types of banking instruments, the most common ones are; Bank Guarantees (BG) and StandBy Letter Of Credit (SBLC). Companies can also use Medium Term Notes (MTN) as a debt instrument. MTN’s were established as an alternative solution to short-term financing in the commercial paper market and long-term borrowing. Although all three are widely used by high net worth investors as a wealth building option. All these different banking instruments can be monetized if the owner wishes to do so.

Monetize A Bank Instrument
If you are looking to monetize an SBLC, you may want to find a monetizer who can give you a decent LTV (loan to value) ratio. LTV’s are assessed by the strength of the security of the instrument and the banks credit worthiness.

Before bank instruments are accepted by monetizers, they will often be checked for their legitimacy. This includes using programs to check documents, knowing exactly where the instrument came from and if the bank can verify where the instrument was issued from them. Wording on the SBLC determines what the instrument can be used for. Just like Providers have their own ways of doing business, so do Monetizers. Monetizers prefer to monetize purchased SBLC’s verified from top 10 banks. Some require you to put the instrument into trade, some may take care of the lease fee deducted from monetized amount (this is rare).

Non Recourse Bank Instruments
If you have a non recourse bank instrument, you may wish to get it monetized. MG Capital Funding are able to assist you, but there will be certain conditions set by monetizers. Some monetizers will require that certain wording is included in the MT760 to enable monetization. Some bank instruments can be monetized but it has to be given to a trader which means the LTV can be fairly low; eg. some instruments can be monetized at 35 % LTV non-recourse.

Monetizing Non Rated Bank Instruments
In general, some monetizers keep away from non-rated bank instruments for the very reason that often these instruments are either fraudulent or are not worth the paper they are written on. Bank instruments such as SBLC’s have to be backed by collateral. That collateral would normally come from a client who holds a bank account within the issuing bank and will use their collateral to back an instrument. Non-rated banks however may not necessarily have the collateral to back the instrument thus deeming the SBLC worthless. Therefore monetizers tend to steer away from such instruments. That said however, there are some specialized service providers who will monetize non-rated bank instruments. Some will only monetize SBLC’s which have been issued by their ‘pre-approved’ network of non-rated banks whom they have pre-vetted to ensure that instruments which are issued from such banks have the collateral and wherewithal to issue the bank instrument. We have access to these very specialized monetizers.

Access Trade Platforms
Trade platforms can be used for many reasons. Some choose to use them to either build wealth or fund a project or business.

Trade Platform Facts
You may have heard about traders working in Banks, Hedge Funds and on Wall Street. There are elite traders you may not know about who work privately which can create such phenomenal returns. It’s not easy getting into such platforms, as the traders are very particular about who they let into the platforms. It is a privilege to get onto these platforms, not a given.

Potential participants will have personal checks and balances done on them before entering such platforms. Checks can include: validity of passports, documents and sometimes a personal face-to-face interview with the trader. Our group deals in clean business only. We might run checks through interpol to make sure there’s no history of money laundering and previous criminal convictions.

Trade Platforms For Businesses
After monetizing an SBLC, you may choose to use the cash to enter a trade platform. Given the high annual interest rate, possible discount from face value, and solid backing by top 25 banks, many flocked toward those who issued and owned the notes, looking for ways to financially capitalize. Once the idea of “trading bank instruments” caught on in the secondary market, the private placement business grew steadily, until the entire business changed with the introduction of the internet.

With the explosion of the internet, the secondary market has been flooded with tons of new brokers trying to broker buy/sells of medium term notes, and bank guarantees. The real discussions about bank instruments, at least for those who are successful, revolve around private placement programs.

Bank instruments, such as medium term notes and bank guarantees, are the lifeblood to any private placement program. Since these notes can be purchased at a discount from top banks, traders can earn quite a hefty profit, all while being risk free due to a prior contractual obligation they had with an “exit buyer”.

As we all know, an “exit buyer” is the entity which purchases the MTN/BG at a slightly higher value, but still discounted from face. Once the first exit buyer purchases the note from the trader, the process repeats itself several times until a final buyer purchases it to hold until maturity. By that time, the note has a very small discount (ex. 93% of face), but many conservative buyers are happy with the remaining spread and annual interest.

If you would like more information on bank instruments, and their role in private placement programs, please read our extensive article by clicking on this link: “Understanding Bank Instruments”.

Remember, education promotes safety, and in the private placement world, safety always comes first.

It is an instrument from a bank which guarantees a buyer’s payment to a seller if certain criteria are met. There are fundamental components of Letters of Credit for International Trade and as such Letters of Credit law are governed universally by a set of guidelines called the UCP 600 which was first produced in the 1930s by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).

More often than not they are issued by banks or specialist trade finance service providers offering LCs. Payment is made to the trade/commerce firm on behalf of the buyer if the terms specified in the LC are fulfilled.

Fundamentally, a letter of credit requires an importer and an exporter and their corresponding issuing bank as well as the receiving/confirming/advising bank. It is relevant where there is an exporter and an importer and there needs to be prepayment or a confirmation of payment in order for goods to be shipped. For this type of trade finance, the financiers and their creditworthiness are crucial. Letters of Credit are incredibly specific and close attention to detail is required. For example, if there is a misspelling in the contract such as the name of the goods or company name is spelt incorrectly, this could cause a non-payment and will remain so until a new, corrected LC is issued and accepted.

We can delve deeper and outline the Letters of Credit advantages and disadvantages however for now we will focus on Letters of Credit advantages

What Is A Commercial Letter Of Credit?
A commercial letter of credit (or sometimes referred to as import/export letters of credit) is one of the oldest and most standard forms of payment for transactions in international trade. Global importers and exporters can often feel uncomfortable producing and shipping goods without any assurance of payment especially if this the first time the parties have dealt with each other. Both importers and exporters can come to an agreement that helps protect both interests whether it is to receive money or goods in exchange. Commercial letters of credit are an agreement in which the importers bank guarantees to pay the exporters bank at the time goods/services are delivered.

Commercial letters of credit act as the primary payment mechanism for a transaction, whereby a standby letter of credit (SBLC) act as the secondary payment mechanism, i.e. a fail-safe guarantee. Some of the benefits of using Letters of Credit but not limited to are safety, risk reduction, efficiency, transparency and above all allows for safe trading.

There are different types of Letters of Credit which we won’t go into detail however here is a brief list of the types of LCs often used; Irrevocable Letter of Credit, Confirmed Letter of Credit, Transferable Letter of Credit, Letter of Credit at Sight, Deferred Letter of Credit, Red Clause Letter of Credit.

How Do LC’s Differ From SBLC’s?
A Standby Letter of Credit is different from a Letter of Credit. Commercial letters of credit differs from Standby letters of credit (SBLC) as they are primarily used in straightforward transactions. Eg; LC’s are used in primary instrument of payment whereas SBLC’s are used as a secondary back up method of payment.

The major difference between a Commercial LC and a Standby Letter of Credit is that a Commercial Letter of Credit (for Import or Export) is a payment method for a trade transaction whereas an SBLC supports the payment of a debt, which debt may or may not be trade related. Using an SBLC for trading such as in Import/Export transactions can be useful in so much that the SBLC is paid when called on after conditions have not been fulfilled. However, a Letter of Credit is the guarantee of payment when certain specifications are met and documents received from the selling party.

Trade finance instruments such as a commercial letter of credit is the bridge in building trust in a transaction due to the nature of international dealings, distance, lack of familiarity with another party and legal differences.

Trade Finance; Letter Of Credit For Importers

Importers may need to delay payments of manufactured products until their batch of goods have been distributed and sold. This is common in supply chains when a business is dependent on a number of processes happening to keep cash flow/liquidity on their accounts. Importers may choose to use a commercial letter of credit to show their credit worthiness to the exporter. Also, they can ensure payment for the provision of goods against invoices or other documentation within a specified time frame. Without a commercial letter of credit, exporters generally ask for substantial deposits or other payment guarantees.

Importers can also choose to use documentary letters of credit (DLC) whilst trading internationally. This means they are protected by financial loss if goods are not produced according to the documented specifications.

Trade Finance Instruments For Exporters

Commercial letters of credit represent a reasonable compromise that protects the exporters of missed payment for the shipment of goods. An LC can be used to demonstrate that goods won’t be released until they are paid for. They can provide importers with a guarantee that they will get the goods if the exporter is paid. Exporters can agree to terms according to the documentary requirements that in turn protect importers’ interests.

Unsecured Letters Of Credit

Most letters of credit for trade are secured against collateral. Prestige has teamed up with an organisation who can offer unsecured letters of credit. This means businesses do not have to tie up valuable collateral to open a letter of credit. Below is a general overview of the Letters of Credit Process and how it should work:

Importer wishes to purchase goods off the exporter and upon agreement, a purchase order (PO) or invoice is issued.
The importer then approaches an issuing bank and/or trade financier who will issue an LC whilst the exporter assigns a confirming/receiving bank who will request the LC documents to be shipped from the issuing bank of the importer.
Once received, the confirming/receiving bank will check the LC and if the terms are correct, the exporter will be given the green light to ship the goods.

The exporter then sends the relevant shipping documents to the confirming/receiving bank, who in turn will process the payment

Once the confirming/receiving bank has examined the shipping documents in strict compliance against the LC terms from the issuing bank, they will forward these documents onto the issuing bank.

The importer then pays the issuing bank who in turn release the shipping documents so that the importer can claim the goods that were shipped.

The issuing bank then transfers money to the confirming bank who will then transfer this money to the exporter. Transaction is complete.

What Is A Standby Letter Of Credit?

A Standby Letter of Credit (‘SBLC’) is a guarantee that is made by a bank on behalf of a client, which ensures payment will be made should the client default on their payment obligations. It is a payment of last resort from the bank which is not meant to be called upon. Simply put, it is a guarantee of payment which will be issued by a bank on the behalf of a client. If used for commercial trading purpose the SBLC is used as a “payment of last resort” due to the circumstances under which it is called upon. The SBLC prevents contracts going unfulfilled if a business declares bankruptcy or cannot otherwise meet financial obligations.

Please note also that there are SBLC’s for lease and SBLC’s for sale. With that comes a massive difference in price. One needs to seriously consider what is the purpose of the instrument they require and whether or not they need to purchase an SBLC or would a leased one do the job sufficiently?

Furthermore, the presence of an SBLC is usually seen as a sign of good faith as it provides proof of the buyer’s credit quality and the ability to make payment.

MG Capital Fund has teamed up with one of the world’s largest issuers of Letters of Credit. The process is very simple and quick. If you are in need of an SBLC for performance, please fill out the enquiry form to learn more.
.
